From layby 79 on the A9 headed up Sgairneach Mhor and then Beinn Udlamain. From there dropped back down to Coire Dhomain and then walked bac kto the car.
:: Weather Conditions
High clouds (probably a forerunner to the weather front) but plenty of sun and blue skies as well.
Below freezing at the car at 10am.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Bullet proof snow! Could barely leave a bootprint in it. Enough big patches to play in but not to stay on planks for too long and still bag the 2 munros.
Looked enough if you just wanted to go up Sgairneach Mhor and then head back down. Could use softening up though!

Recorded here to inspire you to get out there!
2 routes on successive days - North face of the Marmolada (3300m) and the NE face of the Presanella (3558m) Dolomites/ Trentino area of NE Italy
:: Weather Conditions
Typically alpine - sunny and still although temperatures more like May in the Alps than early Feb
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
The poorest snow falls in many years with only 2 significant dumps since early December (more snow in my garden in Perth the day after returning than on many of the lower Dolomite peaks this year!
Both routes chosen to take advantage of relatively high level glacier ascents

Skied up Ben Rinnes (Moray) on the tourist path from Glen Rinnes, then back down the same way. 2 hours
:: Weather Conditions
Intermittent snow showers, poor visibility, stiff wind.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
The path was mostly OK, with wind compacted fresh stuff on the lee aspects. Just a few death cookies lurking beneath the surface. Needs another 20cm or so to cover the heather though.

Sgairneach Mohr(991m) via Coire Dhomain. Approx 3 hour to summit from A9. Look in on north face of visible bowl not possible due to bad weather. More photos to follow....server problems permitting
:: Weather Conditions
Fine AM, blizzard at summit PM, then driving rain in Coire Dhomain.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Dense granular with skiing characteristic akin to breakable crust. Good cover with snow level down to approx 650m.

Enticed by sight from the A9 near Dalwinnie of snow on Ben Alder and headed up towards Gael Charn. Did the headwall of Coire Cheap twice on different lines. Best vertical only 200m; views indicated that Ben Alder, Meall a Bhuirdhe, the Mamores and Nevis Range probably offered better. I walked out via Carn Dearg to bag a second Munro. A Dutch couple that I passed asked me whether I intended to use the skis for sliding, and were content with my reply that I use them for crossing burns.
:: Weather Conditions
Cold, cloudy, dry
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Good at slopes above 40 degrees, variable good to heavy elsewhere
