Various main routes in clash

freezing rain/sleet snow. Low temperatures. Very misty.

Deep snow on mostly firm base. about 1 - 2 ft of snow.

Further snowfall has covered the piste that was groomed on Friday.

Cabrach from Dufftown was closed in the morning although opened later in the day. Deep drifts at the side of the road with tunneled road. Meeting other vechles was a problem as the road was single track with NO room for passing. Luckily plough was passing by again.

9km route round leids leap, haute route, herringbone, normans way

windy, but nice and sheltered in forest, below freezing, occasional snow showers, but in trees it was great

FANTASTIC fresh powdery snow, lots of fresh tracks to follow, expect where drifted in clearings in forest at least 1ft of snow.
Road difficult last 300m to carpark, most cars parked a mile back in forest access track enterance.
we got through in the 1ft snow in our scooby, as had a Disco, A3 quattro and van with chains.
by time we got back drifts bigger - over 4ft in Cabrach direction. Disco couldnt get through in rhynie direction, but a 6wd snow plough beast came along and cleared road, but it couldnt get beyond carpark in the deep drifts - one for a JCB or snowblower it think!

Highland fling to Haute route and back.

sunshine and clear skies.

1ft+ of crisp powder on firm base. Trails just being groomed in front of us as we skied.

Some general skiing around the Biathlon Range, Classic Start, Range Way then split into two parties to do the Haute Route. One party went via Normans Way and Herringbone hill. The other party went up Short cut and met the first party at the top of Herringbone Hill. Both parties returned via shortcut

Heavy snow easing to sunshine and showers. Freezing level was at about the entrance to the car park

Good by the time we left as about 2-4 inches had fallen since yesterdays report. Didn't visit Leids Leap so don't know if there was sufficient to cover the rocks - everywhere else we went was good if a bit sticky
