Cairnwell from Carn Aosda

Glas Maol from Carn Aosda

Thunderbowl looks softer than it was. The wind had exposed an icy base but there was a dusting of fresh still around higher up. Lower down deep drifts were waiting for the unwary

No more queues for the Cairnwell chair these days

Almost like the Alps

Glas Maol, Meall Odhar and the Thunderbowl from the top of the Cairnwell T-bar. Quite a few were taking the Cairnwell chair, skiing down the ridge then walking up to the top of the T-bar. Put Off by the steepish drop down off the ridge and the icy scrap

:: Weather Conditions
Mostly sunny but a few clouds in the morning. The breeze was still cold though. The sun was softenjng the south and west facing slopes in the afternoon
:: Snow Conditions & Info
All runs complete fence to fence and nicely prepared. Off piste was quite variable. Cairnwell steeps were verging on icy in places as was Coire Fionn, but there were also large patches and drifts of fresh snow, some of it quite deep... like up to your knees. West facing slopes had the most fresh - Carn Aosda and Meall Odhar ridge down to Clunie pomas. Still fresh tracks to be had after 4pm. The carparks were quite full...all of them. But there were few lift queues - Butcharts Access, Glas Maol & Caenlochan pomas & Sunnyside chair. Massive queue for ski hire though all morning
