Not a bluebird heatwave like a few days ago as the 30th consecutive month of sliding on CairnGorm Mountain was achieved by Alan and Helen. The 1st day of April saw cloud sitting on the tops and a smattering of new snow at higher levels left from a dusting on Saturday.
Over the back of CairnGorm there are still sizeable snowfields for those willing to do some leg work for some turns. Much more snow than you'd think possible given the view of the Ski Area from Aviemore.
The patch below the Tor on the Eastern flank of CairnGorm is offering 474ft of vertical descent. Superb snow on Sunday with a light covering of fresh on fantastic granular spring snow. If only the whole mountain was like this.
There is also a sizeable snowfield in the Ciste Mhearaidh, with a narrower snow patch extending down the burn towards the waterfall, but the two are not connected. Cloud sitting just about the level of the tor patch meant it wasn't possible to see further round or over the Plateau.
