A bluebird Thursday on CairnGorm Mountain, with but the resident high slipping away West slightly more cloud and a higher inversion layer on Friday meant only the Ptarmigan Bowl was in the Sun.
Top Basin runs all remain in great shape. Most main Cas side mid mountain runs remain in decent nick, though lower M1 is narrow and rocky, better to cut sharp left to the Cas Gunbarrel via Horizon Road. Upper Cas is wide with good spring snow.
Possible to get to the Daylodge on snow, Fiacaill Traverse / Fiacaill Crossover then either follow the side of the Ridge Poma or cut down Jean's Bowl and the lower portion of the Carpark Tow.
West Wall Poma is open, but M2 is broken below the new fencing, only Ryvoan / West Wall Chair run officially open and getting sketchy approaching the Poma loading area, it's also being staying stubbornly firm this week as not the right aspect / gradient to get the Sun. Gully / West Wall / East Wall closed through combo of lack of boardwalk and hard snow on the West Wall. Aonach Bowl closed, but some of it can be accessed by cutting left across the WWP high up.
