Report
A few photos from around the slopes of Meall a' Bhuiridh on Saturday 14th November by Robin Warnock.
Quite a bit of drifted accumulation thanks to very strong winds, it subsequently got exceptionally mild later Sunday but by dawn on Monday the freezing level was back below Munro Level. Thus some of the deeper accumulations are now refrozen and the process of base building has begun.
Further storm cycles forecast which with snow showers at least forecast every day this week should see cover slowly accumulate. Potentially much colder conditions coming in late Friday into the weekend, but the Cairngorms look favourite to be the bullseye for the weekend with a slightly East of North slant to the airflow and perhaps quite a deep low moving down the North Sea.
Still uncertainty on the detail, but the fairly deep upper level cold over warm autumn sea temperatures should drive strong convection and if the low tracks such that we get a blast of SE winds, then Glencoe has done very well out of snowfall from that direction the past few seasons.
Definitely a week to keep a close eye on the webcams!
