Greenside Mines, Sticks Pass zig zags (skis on 550m), the chimney, Raise. Descent of Brund Gill on west slope of Raise, back to top, descent of east slope, traverse Stang back to top of zig zags.

Freezing, only sligth thaw low down in the afternoon.

Firm, quick but grippy drifts. Good touring if you pick your route, little cover on some fells.

Greenside Mines, Keppel Cove (skis on at 500m), over Raise, Stybarrow and Great Dodd, return via the same route and the tow.

Blue sky, some cloud later.

Mixture of drifts and sparse cover, all well frozen, good for fast travel.

Early fog, then superb, a degree or so above freezing

Mix of sparse cover and drifts, far from the worst Lake District touring conditions...

From Dunmail Raise up Dollywagon Pike.

It promised more than it delivered, into the cloud, so photos only low down. Just a degree or so above freezing.

There is fresh snow over the fells, but not as much as in the fields around Kendal and Windermere...
Traditional Lake District touring techniques required, grass good, rocks bad.

Park at New Road, then up past Matterdale Common on to Great Dodd, then along the ridge to Raise. Quick descent of the piste, then back to the Car via Great Dodd.

Snow was crusty in places and needed a delicate touch but the descent off Great Dodd was excellent, all the way to the car park.

Mainly sunny with good visibility but the odd wisp of cloud on the tops.

Crusty at times but can't complain
