Looking up Rankin's Return to the Flypaper, Spering Run and Rannoch glades on the upper mountain.
|
Rankin's Return is wide with sweet spring snow on the Plateau.
|
Around 4 inches of new snow greeted ski patrol in the Main Basin this morning and the Flypaper was open for experts.
|
Looking up the Plateau Poma, run is well groomed but narrow in places.
| Snow has been pushed out to improve the link to/from Cliffhanger Chair and Old Mugs Alley / Plateau Cafe.
|
The Sledge Park is in good shape and the forecast is for sunshine above any inversion cloud at the weekend.
| Laying out some turns on the machine groomed / skier packed new snow on Happy Valley.
|
Etive Glades was giving great turns this afternoon.
| Top leg of Mugs Alley in decent nick, giving an additional option for early intermediates.
|
A few metres of grass hoping is required when returning from Rankin's Return as the Low Road is broken, but passable without unclipping.
| Above an early inversion at the start of the day on Wednesday, looking back along the summit path.

A dry day with bright spells on Wednesday after around 4 inches of snow fell overnight on the upper mountain. This gave fresh tracks on most of the upper runs and groomed machine packed fresh snow on Happy Valley.
All of the upper mountain runs were seeing action with the Flypaper open, but it was pretty firm underneath the fresh once it fell into shadow in the afternoon. The Main Basin and Happy Valley were good for more confident intermediates, but Etive Glades was the pick of the upper blues, with various options to drop in and out of Etive Glades at various points. Easy return to the Main Basin T-bar to lap the upper half.
All mid-mountain runs were open giving the full spectrum of green to black terrain, the top leg of Mugs Alley is in decent shape, so for the longest green run head up the Poma and Cliffhanger and take in the top of Mugs Alley and Rankin's Return - there is a short break of a few metres at the Low Road, but you can shuffle over this and it was well worth it for sweet spring snow turns.
Everything else is complete bar the Low Road on the Plateau, but with Old Mugs Alley / Access Return, Plateau Run and Rankins Return providing routes back to the Poma and top of the Access Chair it still all connects together well for full mountain laps.
A blustery Thursday with some heavy snow showers, but bright spells developing between the showers for the afternoon as high pressure builds in to take control for Friday through the weekend.
Grab the suncream and catch some classic spring snow riding on pretty much the full mountain this weekend with all available uplift ready to run including the Rannoch Button on the upper mountain.
